Cervical Smears

Smears are taken by the doctors and our fully trained practice nurses. If you are between 25 and 65 and have not had a smear taken within the last three years we strongly advise you to make use of this service as it helps prevent cancer of the cervix (the neck of the womb). It is best to have a smear to ensure the cervix is healthy before pregnancy.

This clinic is run on Tuesday afternoon however other members of our team are also trained in the management of diabetes, ask our receptionist for other available appointments. It is essential for you to have regular follow up. You are most welcome to come to the clinic even if you receive most of your diabetes care from the hospital.

Travel Clinic

Mountwood surgery run a travel clinic for the benefit of patients but this is provided as a service outside the NHS and in certain circumstances fees for vaccinations and treatment may be payable. Travellers should make their appointments at least 4 weeks prior to travel, appointments will not be available at short notice if travel plans have been made at the last minute. It is very important that when booking a holiday patients take into consideration any vaccinations that may be needed. Advice on vaccinations required for different world regions is available by telephone. Forward planning is essential, travel vaccinations and malaria prescriptions are not considered to be an emergency and will not be given priority over clinical needs of other patients. From February 2018 we will no longer be able to administer yellow fever vaccines.
