Clinics

The practice provides the following clinics and services which can be accessed through PATCHS or Reception:

Counselling

If you are troubled by depression, anxiety, relationship or stress-related problems, appointments can be arranged through the doctor for you to see a community counsellor. Help is also at hand for alcohol and drug-related problems.

Heart Disease Prevention

In order to prevent heart attacks and strokes, the practice nurses and dietitian offer advice, support and treatment to help stop smoking, reduce weight, increase exercise and lower cholesterol levels.

Minor Surgery

Minor surgery is performed by the doctor in our purpose-built, well-equipped treatment room. Many skin lesions are easily removed under local anaesthetic and a long wait for hospital can usually be avoided. If you have a skin lesion that you are concerned about, then please come and see the doctor in the first instance in order to assess its suitability for surgery.

Asthma Clinic

If you have asthma or use inhaled medications we expect you to have regular reviews in our asthma clinic. Regular review is essential to ensure that you understand how to manage your condition and assess the appropriateness of your medication.

Cervical Smears

Smears are taken by the doctors and our fully trained practice nurses. If you are between 25 and 65 and have not had a smear taken within the last three years we strongly advise you to make use of this service as it helps prevent cancer of the cervix (the neck of the womb). It is best to have a smear to ensure the cervix is healthy before pregnancy.

Diabetes Clinic

Please ask our receptionist for available appointments. It is essential for you to have regular follow up. You are most welcome to come to the clinic even if you receive most of your diabetes care from the hospital.

Family Planning & Contraception Services

The doctors and practice nurses are fully trained in all aspects of family planning. A full range of family planning services and advice is available, including coil (IUCD) fittings which are undertaken by the doctors with the assistance of the practice nurses.

Maternity Care & Preconception Care

The doctors, with the assistance of the community midwives, are available for antenatal and postnatal care. Health visitors are also available to advise on parentcraft and babycare. Your own health is important if you are planning for a healthy baby.

Hormone Replacement & Menopause

If you feel that you may have symptoms related to the menopause or wish to discuss hormone replacement therapy, please make an appointment with the nurses. The practice has a range of resources to help you make decisions with regards to HRT.
